February 13, 2008 -WBA middleweight champion Felix Sturm appeared on Wednesday at a press conference to officially announce the April 5 Universum Champions Night card in Dusseldorf, Germany.

"After my last fight in October, I took a good break," said Sturm, who retained his belt with a draw against mandatory challenger Randy Griffin last October. "Maybe it was a bit too much," he admitted, "having three tough fights in six months. Now my team and I notice that I'm full of new energy and training is fun again. The new training program with Clive Salz, with whom I have worked intensely at my nutrition and fitness, has helped me immensely and released additional motivation. I am doing very well on it and my present condition is far ahead of schedule. I am very happy about my first appearance as a boxer in Dusseldorf, which is just a cat's jump is away from my hometown of Leverkusen."
Regarding his opponent, WBA #13 Jamie Pittman (16-0, 7 KOs), the champion was very respectful. "An unbeaten fighter who can hit hard, promises to be an interesting fight," commented Sturm. "Because he's a southpaw and is quite big for a middleweight, we have to see what we come up with. At any rate, I want to thrill the fans in Dusseldorf with a good fight against a good opponent. I only want to compete against the best!"
